Theory Empire Comics

Theory Empire Comics are looking for talented writers, pencillers, inkers, colorists and letterers.

Your submission should include at least five (5) pages of your best sequential storytelling (art, not just sketches or pin-ups). These pages should demonstrate an ability to handle a variety of scenes, technology, backgrounds and characters… ranging from quiet dialog to intense action.

Initially, we want to see your work online. If you do not have your own website, there are a number of free image hosting services like Flickr, DeviantArt, PhotoBucket and others. If your portfolio requires a password, be sure to note what it is.

Please note we do not pay page rates. We are a newly created company and the funds are extremely slim. If you are willing to take backend pay, then by all means submit.

All writers who submit if your project is accepted. You are responsible for creating your art team.

Submissions should include:
Writers, your portfolio should be a script that you want to submit to show your use of descriptions, dialogue, and storytelling skills.
Pencillers, your portfolio should show pencils-only, not inked or colored pages. Make sure the scans are of good enough quality to clearly see your work.
Inkers, your examples should be black-and-white and include side-by-side comparison with the original pencils.
Colorists, your portfolio should be based on line-art from multiple artists and show your abilities in a variety of styles.
Letterers, your portfolio should show samples of dialogue, sound effects, and captions.
Please note as a new small press company, our marketing, distribution, and related activities are a bit timid compared to other publishing companies. We hope that with the new talent coming in we can change that and maybe become a driving force in the independent comic scene.

With that said, all proposals can be sent using the form below. We will only publish ORIGINAL works whether superheroes or character driven books. They have to be 100% owned by you, the creator.

We are lenient on deadlines, because shit happens! All we ask for is at least a minimum of 1 TPB (Trade Paperback) per series. If possible, please send us an URL to five (5) completed (penciled, inked, colored if available, and lettered) pages of your proposal.

We can work with projects ranging from a G rating to R, but we will NOT publish anything pornographic or the like.

Now the main part, payment is done by the amount of pre-orders you get and books you sell. We specialize in digital distribution and we working on getting mobile distribution for our company. We do Print On Demand for mini-series, ongoing, and one shots. Theory Empire Comics only takes a small, flat fee from each book sale, so small it's not even noticeable. For graphic novels, we suggest you use crowd funding to gain pre-orders and printing funds for your project. We print graphic novels through an outside printer.

You still retain all rights to your property. So if you choose to move on to a new publisher or you want to make your own company, you can take all your projects. Also if you sell the rights for a show or movie or porn (don't), Theory Empire Comics will not interfere in any way. We are a non-exclusive publisher, which means if you want to work on other projects with other publishers then feel free to do so.
We also have an anthology for comic creators. All positions are unpaid and all sales will be used for marketing. The only guidelines is that each story are at minimum of 5 pages long. Only one cover artist will be on the anthology. We accept art pin-ups, comic stories, short written stories, and written articles. Use the form below to submit your anthology contribution.
